Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information Luma Family Health collects through this website, how we use it, and how we protect it. It also explains how your medical information is handled once you become a patient.

Effective September 25, 2026

Who this policy covers

This policy applies to the Luma Family Health website and to the ways you contact us before you become a patient, including phone calls, text messages, and email. Throughout this policy, "Luma Family Health," "we," "us," and "our" refer to Luma Family Health, with offices at [Street Address], Port St. Lucie, Florida 34952 and at 5700 Lake Worth Road, Suite 308-B, Greenacres, Florida 33463.

Once you become a patient, your medical information is also protected by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and by Florida law. Those protections are described in our Notice of Privacy Practices, which is provided to you when you register as a patient and which governs your health information regardless of anything in this website policy.

Two different sets of rules. Information you send us through this website or by text before you are a patient, such as your name and the fact that you asked about a service, is website information covered by this policy. Information created during your care, including your chart, your labs, and your prescriptions, is protected health information covered by HIPAA and our Notice of Privacy Practices.

Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Your name, phone number, and email address when you call, text, or email us
  • Information you enter when booking an appointment through our online scheduling system, including the service you selected and the time you chose
  • Anything else you choose to tell us in a message, such as a general question about a service or price

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, our site may automatically receive basic technical information when you visit, including your IP address, browser type, device type, the pages you viewed, and the site or search that referred you. This information is used to keep the site working properly and to understand which pages people find useful.

We may use standard web analytics tools for that purpose. If we do, those tools use cookies or similar technologies, and you can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking cookies does not prevent you from using this site.

Information we do not collect here

This website does not include a patient portal, a medical intake form, or any other place to submit detailed health information. Please do not send us medical details, symptoms, test results, or images by email or text. If you need to share that information, it belongs in your visit or in our patient system, where it is protected and becomes part of your record.

How we use information

  • To schedule, confirm, reschedule, or cancel your appointments
  • To answer questions you send us about services, pricing, insurance, or availability
  • To provide and coordinate your care once you are a patient
  • To bill for services, including submitting claims to your insurance when applicable
  • To send you appointment reminders and practice updates related to your care
  • To maintain and improve this website and keep it secure
  • To comply with legal, licensing, and recordkeeping obligations

Text messages

Our phone number, 561-277-0936, accepts both calls and text messages. When you text us, you are agreeing to receive text messages back from us at that number about scheduling and general practice matters. Message and data rates may apply depending on your mobile plan, and message frequency varies.

You can stop receiving text messages at any time by replying STOP, or by telling us during a call or a visit. Opting out of text messages does not affect your care, and we will reach you by phone or email instead.

Standard text messaging is not a secure channel. Please keep texts to scheduling and general questions rather than medical detail.

How we share information

We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers. We share information only in these situations:

  • Service providers we rely on to operate. These include our electronic health record and scheduling system, our phone and messaging service, our payment processor, our website host, and, when applicable, our email provider. These vendors are permitted to use your information only to provide services to us, and vendors that handle protected health information do so under a business associate agreement as required by HIPAA.
  • Pharmacies and laboratories. When your care requires a prescription or lab work, we send the necessary information to the pharmacy or laboratory involved so they can fill the prescription or run the test.
  • Other clinicians involved in your care. When we refer you to a specialist or coordinate with another provider, we share the information needed for that care.
  • Insurance and payment. When you use insurance, we share the information required to verify coverage and submit claims.
  • When the law requires it. Including responses to court orders, subpoenas, public health reporting obligations, and licensing board inquiries.

How we protect information

We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect the information we hold, including access controls, encrypted systems for patient records, and vendors selected in part for their security practices. No method of transmitting or storing information is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take the obligation seriously and we limit what we collect in the first place.

How long we keep information

Medical records are retained for the period required by Florida law and professional standards. Website and general contact information is kept only as long as it is needed for the purpose it was collected, or as long as required by law.

Your choices and rights

  • Access and copies. As a patient, you have the right to request a copy of your medical record, and to request corrections to it. Those rights are described in our Notice of Privacy Practices.
  • Communication preferences. You can tell us how you prefer to be contacted, and you can opt out of text messages at any time.
  • Cookies. You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings.
  • Do Not Track. Because there is no common industry standard for responding to browser Do Not Track signals, this site does not respond to them.
  • Questions and complaints. You may contact us at any time with a privacy question or concern, and you will never be penalized for raising one.

Children

We care for patients of all ages, including children, and a parent or legal guardian schedules and consents to care for a minor. This website itself is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect information online from a child under 13 without a parent or guardian.

Links to other sites

This website links to our online scheduling system and may link to other outside resources. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for their practices. We encourage you to read the policy of any site you visit.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our practice or the law changes. When we do, we will revise the effective date at the top of this page. Material changes to how we handle your health information will also be reflected in our Notice of Privacy Practices.
